During the Second World War a unit of the RAAF was based on Dunk Island: No.27 Radio Direction Finding Station. A radar station was erected on the island in October 1942 and disbanded in December 1945. This photo shows members of the squadron stationed on Dunk during a moment of leisure, one Christmas during the early 1940s

Members of the Tully Cycle Club. This club was very strong in the early 1940s. Races were held from Tully to Cardwell and Tully to Innisfail although they were dirt roads at that time. They used interesting equipment for the era, including tubeless tyres

The cairn is located some 9 miles from the commencement of the Kirrama Range Road, overlooking the Davidson and Murray River lands. Chairman of Cardwell Shire Council, Brice Henry died in office in 1940. From a pioneer family, he served the shire for many years as councillor and in his work in the cattle fattening industry
