Colour photograph of the plaque on the commemorative cairn at South Mission Beach. It was unveiled on 23 May 1948 as part of the celebrations for the centenary of Edmund Kennedy's exploration. The cairn is located 2 miles north of where Kennedy landed, on a reserve then named the Kennedy Memorial Park

It recognises the service of men and women of the district, 1914 – 1919. The hall was the location of the Shire Council offices at the time

Original photo of the Cardwell cenotaph erected on the Cardwell foreshore near the jetty. This “Soldiers’ monument” was officially unveiled by Governor of Queensland, Sir Mathew Nathan, in July 1921. The original marble plaque on the base commemorates H.R. Butler and A. Bryant, residents of the district who died on active service during WW1. Further commemorative plaques were added after WW2 and more recent conflicts

Black and white photograph of the memorial gates at the front of Tully State School, Mars Street. The memorial gates were erected to honour past pupils and teachers who served in the Second World War, funded by a grant from the Education Department and donations from the local Council and community societies. The official opening took place in 1948

Black and white photograph of the original Cardwell Divisional Board Hall which became the Cardwell Shire Hall. Located at 51 Victoria Street, it was built in 1892. This photo was taken before it was refurbished in 1988 to become the library. The closed-in portion of the veranda is visible, and also the supper room at the rear. It was severely damaged by Cyclone Yasi in 2011 and subsequently rebuilt. Now a heritage listed property, it houses the J.C. Hubinger Museum
