Just inside the mouth of the Hull River. This river was named after Surveyor Alfred Hull who had worked in the area in 1871 surveying the Murray and Mackay (Tully) Rivers area

The roman catholic church at Lower Tully was blessed and opened on 11 August, 1935. This photograph shows the altar and interior of the church decorated for a wedding or first communion service. The church became known as the Chapel of the Pioneers from 1992

The jetty in this image, built near where the current jetty was completed in 1969, was itself damaged by the cyclone of 1918 and reduced drastically in length

Sepia original photograph of the Marine Hotel, Victoria Street, Cardwell. Originally a single storey building dating from 1871, it was extended in 1877. It served the community well but was demolished and replaced by a new hotel-motel building which was officially opened in November 1967

Copy print of the buildings provided for the construction workers building the Koombooloomba Dam as part of the Tully River Hydro-electric power scheme. Over 900 people lived here during the construction period. The mens’ barracks are in the foreground
