The cairn is located some 9 miles from the commencement of the Kirrama Range Road, overlooking the Davidson and Murray River lands. Chairman of Cardwell Shire Council, Brice Henry died in office in 1940. From a pioneer family, he served the shire for many years as councillor and in his work in the cattle fattening industry

That building was moved in 1943 to the present site and raised on high blocks. The name was changed to Kennedy State School in 1945. The low building on the right in the photograph was later also raised on blocks and joined to the other building by a veranda
