Black and white photograph of the carved stone cross which is a memorial to Walter Jervoise Scott, one of the pioneers of the Valley of Lagoons Station and of Cardwell. This granite cross was sent from Scotland in 1890 to be placed on Walter Scott's grave at the Valley of Lagoons but it proved too heavy and awkward for a bullock team to haul it up the steep Dalrymple Gap Track. The cross was located on land owned by the Scott brothers in Cardwell until 1965 when it was moved by crane to the present location on Victoria Street, in front of the Anglican Church

Black and white photograph of the memorial to Percy Pease, located on the Kirrama Range Road local State Member of Parliament. He was commemorated because of his interest in the Cardwell area of his electorate of Herbert between 1920 and 1940, and his support for many projects here

Sepia photograph of the S.L.S.C. building on Kennedy Esplanade, South Mission Beach. The building was used during WW2 at Battle Creek on the Atherton Tableland and was brought to the Beach by trucks in c.1950. It was destroyed by fire c.1972 after it had been sold for a residential block. The Lifesavers were operating before the war and started up again after the war. It was a popular pastime in the 1960s

The cenotaph on the foreshore at Cardwell was erected after the Great War. This photo also shows the remains of Cardwell's second jetty with loading equipment on the end of the jetty. The jetty shed is visible behind the war memorial

Photograph of Mount Tyson Hotel on Butler Street. The business was built by Demosthenes Syrmiss in 1926 but this hotel was also the scene of a tragic fire in 1929 after which it was rebuilt
