Jim Kirk was the owner of Kirk's Aerated Water and Cordial Factory (c.1910 - 1918). He was married to Eva Kirk (nee Graham), who later became Mrs W. Hewett. [from description on back of photo]

The image is of Winnie, Violet and Dilly Boy. Dilly Boy showed Surveyor Smith the gap through the Walter Hill Range that the North Coast Railway took. He was presented with an engraved brass plate as "King Dilly Boy of Banyan."

The Maria Creek wharf was located about 2 miles upstream from the river mouth. A sawmill tramway from the wharf to Japoonvale was also used by Chinese growers to transport their bananas to the wharf as seen on this image, where "S.S. Seymour" is loading. The Adelaide Steamship Company shed can be seen to the left centre

Aboriginal people continued to be moved to the settlement from 1914 until March 1918, when a devastating cyclone destroyed the settlement. It was not re-established

Photograph of Albert Bryant. He lived at Mission Beach prior to enlisting in the A.I.F. in January 1916. He was killed in action in France in 1917. His name appears on the Honour Roll in Cardwell and Bryant Street, Tully was named after him
