Black and white photograph of Mr Jim Kirk and two children, seated on horse and rig. The horse "Darky" and Rig was an award winner at the Innisfail Show (ribbon around horse's neck). Jim Kirk was the owner of Kirk's Aerated Water and Cordial Factory (c.1910 - 1918). He was married to Eva Kirk (nee Graham), who later became Mrs W. Hewett. [from description on back of photo]

Sepia original photograph of the original Cardwell Divisional Board Hall which became the Cardwell Shire Hall. Located at 51 Victoria Street, it was built in 1892. It was refurbished in 1988 but was severely damaged by Cyclone Yasi in 2011 and subsequently rebuilt

There were numerous Chinese growers along the Tully River from the 1890s, and about 400 at the peak from 1905 to 1908. The First World War caused shipping to southern markets to be disrupted and most of the Chinese gardeners departed
