During the Second World War a unit of the RAAF was based on Dunk Island: No.27 Radio Direction Finding Station. A radar station was erected on the island in October 1942 and disbanded in December 1945. This photo shows members of the squadron stationed on Dunk during a moment of leisure, one Christmas during the early 1940s
