Photograph of Chinese banana growers loading bunches from their smaller craft onto the "Barratta". The banana trade on the Johnstone River thrived in the years before the First World War. The "Barratta" was an iron steamship registered to Burns Philp & Co. Ltd, based in Townsville, in 1892
