Black and white copy photograph of Freeman Lawrence's bullock team at Cardwell. When Walter Scott died at the Valley of Lagoons in 1890 his family in England sent out a granite cross to mark his grave. The large monument could not be transported by this bullock team up the difficult Cardwell Range route and remained in the township
