Original photo of the Cardwell cenotaph erected on the Cardwell foreshore near the jetty. This “Soldiers’ monument” was officially unveiled by Governor of Queensland, Sir Mathew Nathan, in July 1921. The original marble plaque on the base commemorates H.R. Butler and A. Bryant, residents of the district who died on active service during WW1.
