Sepia photograph of a steam train at the Cardwell station in the 1920s. The small station building is in the rear left and some tents, possibly for construction workers, are to the right. The North Coast Railway line through from Townsville to Cairns was finally officially opened in December 1924 when the Daradgee bridge over the Johnstone River was completed
