Peter Combe was commissioned to write a musical concert in the form of a cantata for choir, orchestra and soloists for the 1992 Adelaide Festival of Arts. The cantata is based on the stories and characters in May Gibbs' classic Australian books about the little gumnut babies, Snugglepot & Cuddlepie, first published in 1918, and now part of Australian Folklore.
