Black and white photograph of a crashed RAAF bomber, Hudson A16-162. During the battle of the Coral Sea this aircraft flew a search mission from Townsville off the coast but crashed on 5th May 1942 in the Hinchinbrook Channel near Goold Island. One of the crew, Sergeant James, died in the crash and was buried in the Tully Cemetery. The aircraft was towed to Cardwell for salvage and returned, in pieces, by road to RAAF Base Garbutt
