Photo shows some of the official party at the unveiling of the Kennedy Memorial cairn at South Mission Beach. It was unveiled on 23 May 1948 as part of the celebrations for the centenary of Edmund Kennedy's exploration. The cairn is located 2 miles north of where Kennedy landed, on a reserve then named the Kennedy Memorial Park
